  • Post Executive Editor Matt Murray said the paper was "outraged by this unwarranted attack on a journalist" and urged authorities to investigate (ABC News).
  • Prime Minister Netanyahu's office said Israel "unequivocally condemns violence against anyone" and called for an investigation into the "unclear" circumstances. It also said it would "not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents" (ABC News; PBS NewsHour).
  • Israeli police opened an investigation, and the IDF was at the scene. No arrests had been reported (ABC News).
  • The Israeli military acknowledged the journalist's injury and condemned the violence. The U.S. State Department condemned "criminal violence by any party in the West Bank" and offered the Post consular assistance (PBS NewsHour).
  • The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported 14 people wounded across six locations in Friday's attacks (PBS NewsHour).
  • DISPUTED: Levine's injuries are reported inconsistently. Truthout reported a cracked rib; other outlet reports describe a broken rib, a broken vertebra and a finger injury needing surgery. I could not confirm these against the PBS or ABC reports (PBS NewsHour).sources conflict

ContextThe UN has recorded over 150 settler-violence incidents tied to this year's olive harvest in more than 75 West Bank villages since early October, with over 140 injuries and more than 4,200 trees and saplings damaged or destroyed (Al Jazeera, citing the UN).

“Israel is notorious for opening supposed investigations into incidents of settler or soldier violence, and either never finishing the probe or clearing themselves of responsibility.”Truthout · dismissing in advance the promised probe into the attack on Levine

Truthout wrote, and it tied the attack to a report that the US embassy suppressed findings on nine Palestinian Americans killed in the West Bank. TYT's host told viewers "it's important that you understand that we fund these terrorists." [75][90]

Ken Paxton's Texas Senate campaign gained about $158 million in outside support in September, all of it traced to Elon Musk. SLF's October Quarterly shows Musk giving the Senate Leadership Fund $75 million on September 9 and $83 million on September 23, and SLF paying Texas PAC the same sums on September 10 and 24 (FEC filing). Texas PAC's independent-expenditure reports list roughly $69.6 million supporting Paxton and $78.7 million opposing Democrat James Talarico since September 1 (FEC data). The money is realized. Who pays is Musk personally, through super PAC contributions and pass-through transfers. The decision to route it through SLF to Texas PAC sat with Musk and SLF's leadership, whose own filing records the transfers. The tie between Musk and the candidate is reported rather than recorded: Paxton, then attorney general, opened a 2022 investigation of Twitter's bot reporting hours after Musk raised the same charge (CBS Austin) [80][231][298]. The filings show no exchange between Musk and Paxton, and these are independent expenditures, not gifts to the campaign.

Merck, AbbVie and other drugmakers gained a longer Medicare price-negotiation holiday from Section 71203 of the 2025 reconciliation law (P.L. 119-21), which exempts drugs designated for "one or more" rare diseases (CRS). Who pays is the federal budget and, through Medicare spending, taxpayers: CBO revised its 10-year cost estimate for the provision from $4.9 billion to $8.8 billion after finding that Keytruda, Opdivo and Darzalex could be affected (CBO). Congress passed the provision and Trump signed it on July 4, 2025. A Joint Economic Committee Democrats' report says Trump held as much as $39.1 million in stock in the companies that benefited, up from as much as $1.7 million in all pharma stock in 2024 (JEC report) [226][79]. The holdings figure is a partisan tally of maximum disclosure ranges. The White House says third parties manage the portfolio with no input from Trump [226].
